Pyrolysis of scrap tires offers an environmentally and economically attractive method for transforming used tires into useful products; such as fuel oil, carbon black (char) and synthetic gas and market-ready steel wire.

Pyrolysis oil (or bio-oil) has higher calorific value, low ash, low residual carbon, and low sulfur content.

Carbon Black (Char)

The solid residue (Char), it contains carbon black and other minerals initially present in the tire. This solid char is a replacement for coal and used as a reinforcement additive in both the rubber and cement industries or as activated carbon and smokeless fuel.

Because of its unique properties, the uses of carbon black have expanded to include pigmentation, ultraviolet (UV) stabilization and conductive agents in a variety of everyday high-performance products, including:

  • Tires and Industrial Rubber Products
  • Plastics
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Compounds
  • High-Performance Coatings
  • Toners and Printing Inks

Syngas & Steel Wire

When produced in pyrolysis, it is created by the vaporization of volatile compounds from the raw material thanks to heat. Gases from pyrolysis typically contain significant quantities hydrocarbons that build their calorific value and make them important fuel for the chemical and energy industries

The third product of tire Pyrolysis plant is steel wire, the quantity of the steel wire is about 10% to 15% according to tire quality. The steel present in a recycled tire can be detached after the pyrolysis recycling process is completed. The steel wires are pressed and made available to steel and scrap dealers.
